Our Sunday Rescue is near Dove Mountain, located NW of Tucson.
The rescue is for a wide variety of plants. There are a few Saguaros & very nice sized limberbush in addition to the usual barrels, hedgehogs & mamms.
There are also several saguaro skeletons and cholla wood to gather.
While some 4 wheel drive vehicles may access the interior parts of this 30 acre site, most will not.
In most cases there will be a carry. For the safety of the crew and to prevent damage to the plants, size restrictions on Saguaros will be enforced. If you want to get larger saguaros, arrange to work as a team.
Solo rescuers are limited to saguaros that are 3 ft or less in height and must have a wheelbarrow or hand truck to transport it.
Teams of two are limited to saguaros that are 4 ft or less in height and must be able to carry (not drag!) the plant via sling or hand truck for at least 100 ft to the vehicle loading area.
Teams of three or more are limited to saguaros that are 5 ft or less in height and the team must be able to carry the plant via sling or hand truck for at least 100 ft to the vehicle loading area.
Larger plants may be approved for larger teams.
Get approval BEFORE you start digging any large plant.
You may take as many saguaros as you like as long as you dig a comparable one for the club.

· · Barrel and hedgehog tag prices are $6 ea.
Training is available for those new to rescue at this site.
